Viñedos Ponce, La Estrecha, D.O. Manchuela, red wine, 0,75l Ponce La Estrecha is a red wine from the Castilian region of Manchuela made from the Bobal variety. The name of the wine originates from the Spanish word "estrechez", which means lack of space and thus points to a densely planted vineyard (1700 vines per hectare). This wine is characterized by a cherry color with garnet tones. It surprises with an intense aroma in which ripe red fruit predominates, in the background you can smell spices, licorice and delicate milk notes of barrique. It is fresh on the palate, with pleasant acidity and a long finish.

Ponce La Estrecha is an excellent red wine that comes from 75-year-old vineyards located on limestone soil at an altitude of 870 m above sea level. Technically, we cannot actually talk about a single-varietal wine, because in addition to the Bobal variety, there are also several bushes of the Moravia, Autumn Royal and also white Marisancho varieties, which lend elegance and freshness to the wine. Fermentation takes place using natural yeast in wooden containers. It is then aged for 11 months in 600 liter barrique barrels.
It goes well with mature cheeses, game, lamb, poultry, legumes and red meat. The world-renowned wine connoisseur Robert Parker was awarded 94 points.
Bodegas y Viñedos Ponce is a family winery from the Manchuela region founded in the late 1990s. One of the main goals of this family business was to introduce the surrounding world to varieties such as Bobal, Moravia Agria or Albilla, which are typical of the Manchuela region, but are currently on the verge of extinction. The area has a typical continental climate with little humidity - not a drop of water falls here from May to September. Fluctuations in temperature between day and night help slow ripening and perfect coloring of the grapes.
