Luis Cañas, Blanco, D.O. Rioja, white wine, 0.75l

Luis Cañas Blanco is a fresh white wine from the Rioja Alavesa region, made from the local varieties Viura, Malvasía and Tempranillo Blanco.
The family winery Luis Cañas has focused on quality for generations, and this wine is a showcase of their emphasis on purity, terroir and varietal character. It is an unoaked cuvée that retains its freshness, natural fruitiness and lightness, ideal for everyday drinking as well as for pairing with food.

Grape variety: 85% Viura, 10% Malvasía Riojana, 5% Tempranillo Blanco

Vineyard: The grapes come from various vineyards in the Rioja Alavesa region, planted on limestone and clay soils. Harvesting is done by hand with careful selection, followed by cold maceration and fermentation in stainless steel tanks at a low temperature to preserve the aromatics.

Ageing: The grapes are harvested by hand and are also hand-sorted, so that only the best quality ones are chosen. It ages for several months on fine lees (sur lie) in stainless steel tanks, without the use of oak barrels. Regular stirring of the lees (bâtonnage) gives it a finer texture and a light creaminess, while the wine retains its fresh, fruity and mineral character.

Taste and aroma: Light yellow colour with greenish tinges. The aroma is markedly fruity, with notes of apples, pears, citrus and flowers. On the palate the wine is fresh, juicy and well balanced, with a delicate structure, a mineral line and a pleasant finish.

Food pairing: Excellent as an aperitif, it goes well with fish, seafood, salads, poultry and lightly spiced dishes. We recommend serving at a temperature of 6–8°C.
