Telmo Rodríquez is a Spanish winery founded in 1994. It has a worldwide reputation as a pioneer championing Spanish winemaking, a travelling oenologist and a "driving wine-maker". He earned this reputation mainly thanks to travelling to different wine regions in search of wines, in order to then produce single-harvest wines using only the original varieties of each region. In addition, he devotes special care to restoring forgotten vineyards. The Telmo Rodríquez brand reflects an immense love of wine and fine winemaking craft.
The wine Telmo Rodríguez Basa is one of the pioneering wines that expresses the Verdejo variety adapted to the continental climate of Spain's Rueda region. This white wine is direct, fresh and expressive. Typical of a style that reflects the soil, the climate and a traditional approach to the vineyards.
Grape variety: 90% Verdejo and 10% Viura, where Verdejo gives the wine fruitiness, freshness and terroir character, and Viura adds finesse and structure.
Vineyard: The grapes come from various vineyards within D.O. Rueda, mainly from the villages of La Seca, Serrada, Pozaldez and Foncastín. The soils consist of gravel from fluvial terraces, erosion slopes and glacis, which helps create the wine's mineral and fresh character.
Production and ageing: After harvest, fermentation and ageing take place in stainless steel (INOX) tanks for several months, thanks to which the wine retains its purity of fruit, fresh acidity and its expressive personality.
Taste and aroma: The wine presents a pale yellow colour with greenish hints. In the aroma you can find citrus notes, white and tropical fruit, delicate herbs and mineral nuances, which complement its clean and fresh profile. On the palate the wine is balanced with good acidity, medium body and a harmonious finish. Simply a fresh, dry and tasty wine.
Food pairing: Recommended serving temperature 7-10°C. It pairs excellently with lighter fish dishes, seafood, sushi, tempura, salads and pasta with a light sauce, where its freshness and fruity character shine through.
