Ageing and vineyards: Carmelo Rodero Raza 2021 is a tribute to the roots of the Rodero winemaking family. The wine comes exclusively from five vineyards in the Pedrosa de Duero area. The grapes come from vines more than 35 years old. Vinification takes place using a modern gravity method with the patented OVI system, which minimises mechanical intervention and protects the wine's aroma and structure. The wine ages for 20 months in new French oak barrels, giving it delicate notes of vanilla, wood and complexity.
Taste and aroma: The wine has a deep colour and an intense aroma of dark fruit, such as mulberries, plums and blackberries. On the palate it is full, yet elegant, with fine tannins, a mineral undertone and touches of spice. The oak ageing adds further layers of complexity in the form of vanilla and lightly toasted notes.
Food pairing: It offers a rich, velvety and harmonious experience with a long finish. The wine pairs excellently with red meat, game, grilled dishes or mature cheeses.
