Selección Especial is a special wine from Abadía Retuerta, in which the best wines of the vintage are selected and blended. All the wines come from the estate's own vineyard, which has been divided into 54 distinct plots. The main variety is the traditional Tempranillo from the Duero valley. The aim is to achieve a balance between the character of each vintage while preserving the unique style of this wine.
Abadía Retuerta is considered one of the most innovative wineries in Europe and has gained international recognition, with its wine ranked among the "100 Best Wines in the World" by Wine Spectator magazine.

Grape variety: 69% Tempranillo, 13% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Syrah, 4% Merlot, 2% Graciano, 1% Petit Verdot

Ageing: 12 months in French and American oak barrels

Taste and aroma: The wine has an intense red colour with violet tones, indicating its ageing potential. The aroma is complex with pronounced notes of red fruit, such as redcurrant, raspberry and cherry, complemented by floral and spicy notes of liquorice and cream. On the palate it is smooth, refreshing and pleasant, with high-quality tannins, both delicate and mature. They are perfectly integrated and ensure a long aromatic finish.

Food pairing: This red wine is best enjoyed at a mild temperature of 16-18 °C. It goes wonderfully with veal escalope with beans and tomatoes, ossobuco with Milanese-style risotto, spicy lamb curry or stewed vegetables with pesto.
