Pago de Carraovejas, El Anejón 2018, D.O. Ribera del Duero, red wine, 0.75l
El Anejón is a prestigious red wine from the Ribera del Duero region, which exceptionally represents the unique terroir of the terraced vineyards above the Carraovejas valley.
The Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot varieties come together here in a wine with an intense aromatic profile of dark fruit in the form of plums, black cherries and blackberries, complemented by layered notes of cocoa, cedar and delicate spicy accents. The bouquet is at once elegant and complex, with hints of lavender or subtle floral notes that underline the sophistication and depth of the whole profile.
On the palate it is full-bodied, with smooth, well-integrated tannins and balanced, refreshing acidity that gives the wine both structure and elegance. Delicate touches of chocolate, spice and orange peel intertwine with rich fruit and persist into a long finish that is both intense and harmonious. Thanks to its depth, complexity and pronounced character, El Anejón is an ideal choice for lovers of quality red wines and pairs wonderfully with red meat dishes, game or mature cheeses.

El Anejón is one of the most distinctive and prestigious wines from the Pago de Carraovejas winery. A unique single-vineyard project that embodies the elegance, depth and terroir complexity of selected terraced vineyards above the Carraovejas valley.
This wine comes exclusively from the remarkable El Anejón plot, one of the first terraced vineyards in the whole of D.O. Ribera del Duero, where limestone-clay soils and exceptional sun exposure give the wine a strong character with mineral precision and intense aromatics.

Vineyard: The El Anejón plot lies at an altitude of approximately 850 metres above sea level and, thanks to its terraced layout, forms a natural amphitheatre overlooking the castle in Peñafiel; its compact loam-limestone soil and pronounced microclimate contribute to a deep mineral expression and terroir character typical of this wine.
Ageing: After hand harvesting and double grape selection, spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts takes place in small French oak vats, followed by ageing for 12 months in new 600 l French oak barrels with a gentle touch of wood, which supports depth and complexity without the wood dominating.
Aromatics and taste: El Anejón 2021 opens with an intense aromatic profile of red and black fruit, cherries, plums, raspberries and blackberries, complemented by delicate notes of vanilla, black pepper and hints of cocoa. On the palate it is medium- to full-bodied, with smooth, elegant tannins and balanced acidity that brings freshness and harmony. The fruit intertwines with subtle spiciness and a hint of minerality, while the long and sophisticated finish confirms the depth, complexity and pronounced character of this prestigious red wine.
Food pairing: Thanks to its structure and complexity, it goes wonderfully with roasted and grilled red meat, braised game, rich sauces and mature cheeses. The recommended serving temperature is 16–18 °C to allow the aromas and structure to fully develop.
