A unique wine, of the Syrah variety, from a vineyard planted on light limestone soil in a valley surrounded by pine trees that protect it from the wind. The result is grapes with a high concentration of sugars and perfect ripeness.
Abadía Retuerta is considered one of the most innovative wineries in Europe and has gained international recognition, with its wine ranked among the "100 Best Wines in the World" by Wine Spectator magazine. Previous vintages have scored up to 94 points in this American magazine and won several gold medals at international competitions.

Ageing: 17 months in French oak barrels

Taste and aroma: The wine has an intense colour reminiscent of blackcurrant and a floral bouquet. On the nose there is an explosion of red and black fruit, plum, with notes of black olives. Seventeen months' rest in new French oak barrels gives it balsamic and toasted notes. On the palate it is elegant yet smooth and intense, a bold, balanced wine with silky tannins and a long finish.

Food pairing: This red wine is best enjoyed at a mild temperature of around 17 °C. It goes wonderfully with veal escalope with beans, with lamb or stewed vegetables. You can also enjoy a glass with Spanish tapas in the form of jamón, olives and sheep's cheese matured for at least 6 months.
