José Pariente Verdejo is the flagship white wine of Bodegas José Pariente, offering a pure and elegant interpretation of the Verdejo variety, considered indigenous to the Rueda region. This wine is made from 100% grapes from family vineyards and old vineyards of small growers, which brings together the complexity and diversity of the region's different soils. The winery places great emphasis on sustainability and organic practices at every stage of production.
Vineyard: The vineyards are located at an altitude of 700–800 metres in the areas of Rueda, La Seca, Torrecilla de la Abadesa and Tordesillas in the province of Valladolid, as well as in the Codorniz and Nava de la Asunción area in the province of Segovia. The soils are mainly sandy and stony with limestone subsoil, which contributes to the wines' mineral character. The climate is continental, with cold winters and hot, dry summers, allowing the Verdejo grapes to reach optimal ripeness and acidity.
Harvest and ageing: After harvesting, the musts are fermented in stainless steel tanks, concrete vessels and older wooden tanks. After fermentation, the wine remains on fine lees for four months, which contributes to its fullness and complexity. This combination of different fermentation and ageing methods gives the wine its unique character.
Taste and aroma: The wine has a clear straw-yellow colour with greenish highlights. On the nose, pronounced floral tones with nuances of white fruit, peaches, citrus and a hint of anise and fennel. On the palate the wine is fresh, elegant and aromatic, with a subtle touch of bitterness on the finish, typical of the Verdejo variety. It has good structure and a long aftertaste.
Food pairing: We recommend serving chilled. This wine goes wonderfully with a wide range of dishes, including fish, seafood, salads, pasta, rice, white meat, charcuterie and delicate cheeses. It is an ideal choice for summer lunches or evenings with friends.
