Telmo Rodríguez, Branco de Sta. Cruz, D.O. Valdeorras, white wine, 0.75l
A true gem!
Telmo Rodríguez, Branco de Santa Cruz is a white wine from the Valdeorras region. The wine is made from the white varieties Treixadura, Godello, Doña Blanca and Palomino. The small production of the vineyards made it possible to produce only 1,250 bottles.
Branco de Santa Cruz is a mature, creamy and very elegant wine. The nose shows fresh citrus and white fruit tones, subtle floral nuances and mineral touches reflecting the granite terroir. On the palate the wine is well balanced, with pleasant acidity, medium texture and an elegant finish, where pure fruit blends with mineral freshness.

Telmo Rodríguez is a Spanish winery founded in 1994. Around the world it has a reputation as a pioneer championing Spanish winemaking, a travelling oenologist and a "driving winemaker". He earned this reputation above all by travelling to individual wine regions to make single-harvest wines using only the native varieties of each area. He also pays special attention to restoring forgotten vineyards. The Telmo Rodríguez brand reflects an immense love of wine and fine winemaking craft.
Telmo Rodríguez Branco de Sta. Cruz comes from authentic vineyards in the village of Santa Cruz, in the Ladeiras do Bibei, D.O. Valdeorras area in north-western Spain. This white wine is an expression of the local terroir, where the combination of traditional varieties and careful organic farming gives rise to a wine with a strong personality, mineral depth and harmonious structure.
Grape variety: The wine is a cuvée of the traditional varieties Godello, Treixadura, Doña Blanca and Palomino, which together contribute to its complexity and pronounced aromatic profile.
Vineyard: The grapes come from organically farmed vineyards on terraces above the Bibei river at altitudes of 400–600 m above sea level, with poor, granitic soils and hand-harvesting into small crates, which helps concentrate the wine's flavour and mineral character.
Production and ageing: After hand-harvesting, fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts, followed by ageing for about 10 months in wooden barrels and foudres of various sizes, which gives the wine depth, texture and subtle complexity without losing freshness.
Taste and aroma: The nose shows fresh citrus and white fruit tones, subtle floral nuances and mineral touches reflecting the granite terroir. On the palate the wine is well balanced, with pleasant acidity, medium texture and an elegant finish, where pure fruit blends with mineral freshness.
Food pairing: The recommended serving temperature is 10–12 °C. It pairs excellently with seafood, fish, light salads, white meat or pasta with herbs, or mild cheeses such as Idiazabal natural or Manchego semicurado, where it enhances the freshness and complexity of the dish.
Awards: The wine has received high scores from experts, for example 93 points from Robert Parker's Wine Advocate for the 2022 vintage, confirming its quality and expression of terroir.
