This exceptional red wine from the Luis Cañas winery in the Rioja region is an elegant red wine, made predominantly from the Tempranillo variety. It ages for 12 months in oak barrels, giving it a balanced character with notes of red fruit, delicate spice and vanilla. On the palate it is smooth, harmonious and ideal with grilled meat or cheeses.
The British magazine Decanter ranked the Luis Cañas wine cellars among the 100 best in the world.

Grape variety: 95% Tempranillo, 5% Garnacha.
Crianza: 12 months in oak barrels made from American (30%) and French (70%) oak, at least 9 months of ageing in the bottle.
These older vintages in the larger format (3 l) bring more pronounced ageing and complexity thanks to a longer stay in barrel and bottle.
The grapes come from vineyards with an average age of around 30–35 years.
Taste and aroma: A very deep colour, reminiscent of cherries and ripe plums. The aroma has the fruitiness of cherries and blackberries with traces of wood, herbs, coffee and vanilla. It is a very complex and structured wine with a long finish. In the mouth it is velvety and delicate, with an elegant structure, pleasant tannins and a long, balanced finish.
More pronounced complexity, deeper fruity and spicy tones and a longer aftertaste are typical of these vintages.
Food pairing: We recommend serving it at 18°C with red meats or fish in sauces. It is also a perfect accompaniment to simple tapas such as jamón ibérico, Spanish charcuterie or sheep's cheeses aged around 6 months.
