An intense ruby red wine from the La Rioja region in Spain, made from the Tempranillo grape. The grapes are hand-picked in vineyards in San Vicente de la Sonsierra and Labastida. The grapes are hand-sorted both in the vineyard and in the cellar. Fermentation takes place at a temperature of between 26 and 28 °C with the help of native yeasts straight from the vineyards. This is followed by maceration for 16 days with punching down twice a day, and then the wine ages for 14 months in American and French oak barrels. The aroma of this wine offers a fruity spectrum, in which ripe cherry or plum stands out most, with hints of forest fruit in the background. After aeration you can detect the flavour of minerals, given by the vineyards' subsoil. The finish of the wine is long and lightly spiced. The Jeroboam size (3 l) is ideal for ageing the wine in the bottle. It gains a more balanced flavour this way. This wine received 90 points from the American expert Robert Parker.
