Suertes del Marqués, Vidonia, D.O. Valle de la Orotava, white wine, 0.75l
The wine Suertes del Marqués Vidonia is an elegant, mineral white wine made from the autochthonous variety Listán Blanco, grown on ungrafted vineyards in Valle de la Orotava on Tenerife.
The grapes undergo natural fermentation in small French oak barrels and then age for ten months in bottle without filtration, which preserves freshness, mineral character and a delicate complexity of aromas.
Vidonia offers an aroma of ripe citrus, white flowers and delicate herbs, and on the palate shows a balanced acidity, body and a clean, long finish.
Thanks to its freshness and elegant structure it goes wonderfully with fish, seafood, white meat or light sauces, and is recommended served at 8–10°C.

Grape variety: The wine is made from old Listán Blanco vines, also known as Palomino in the Canary Islands. It is an autochthonous variety typical of Tenerife, notable for its ability to adapt to the island's demanding volcanic soils and altitudes. Old vineyards give the grapes a deeper concentration of aromas, which is directly reflected in the wine's complexity and mineral character.
Awards:
2021 vintage: 96 points - Robert Parker
Vineyard:
The grapes come from ungrafted vineyards of the Suertes del Marqués winery, grown using the Cordon Multiple Trenzado method - a traditional technique of braiding the vine cordons, which is virtually unique not only in the Canary Islands but in the world. The vineyard is located in the Valle de la Orotava, at an altitude of approximately 300–750m, on soils rich in volcanic lava, which gives the wine its characteristic minerality and complex aroma.
Production and ageing:
Fermentation takes place naturally in small 500-litre French oak barrels. The wine then undergoes ten months of ageing in bottle, without filtration, which helps preserve the maximum expression of aromas and a natural structure. All processes, from vineyard work to harvest and ageing, are carried out by hand, with minimal intervention in natural processes, the use of native yeasts and a limited amount of sulphites.
Taste and aroma:
Vidonia is a full-bodied and elegant white wine with clear minerality and freshness. The nose offers notes of ripe citrus, white flowers, delicate herbs and a mineral undertone. On the palate the wine is complex, with a pleasant structure, balanced acidity and a long, clean finish. Ageing in barrel and bottle develops depth of flavour and subtle notes of wood, without the wood becoming dominant.
Food pairing:
Thanks to its freshness, mineral purity and medium body, Vidonia goes wonderfully with seafood dishes, fish, light creamy sauces, white meat, or grilled vegetable dishes. It is best served at a temperature of 8–10°C, so that the wine's aromatics and balance can fully develop.
Alcohol content: 13.5%
