Ossian Vides y Vinos, Ossian, D.O. Castilla y León, white wine, 0.75l
Ossian is a distinctive, terroir-driven white wine made from 100% Verdejo, coming from small, ancient vineyards around the village of Nieva (Segovia) in Castilla y León. The vineyards are located on sandy soils, which thanks to their structure escaped the devastation of phylloxera and allowed vines up to 200 years old to survive, giving the wine a deep and authentic character with a clear identity of soil and climate.
On the palate the wine is dry, fresh and balanced, with aromas of ripe white fruit, citrus and delicate herbal or mineral notes, complemented by texture from long ageing on the lees and a touch of wood. Tannins here are not pronounced, the wine is rather medium-bodied and harmonious, with a long and elegant finish. It pairs with dishes such as grilled fish, seafood, light tapas or lightly spiced vegetables, and the recommended serving temperature is around 9–12°C for the full opening of its aromatic and flavour potential.

The wine Ossian is a distinctive and terroir-specific dry white wine made from 100% Verdejo variety, which represents the purest and most expressive interpretation of this Segovian green wine in the portfolio of the Ossian Vides y Vinos winery. Ossian is considered the "ultimate Verdejo", born from organically farmed vineyards with historic, pre-phylloxera vines around Nieva (Segovia), where sandy and partly sandy-stony soils allowed these old vines to survive without the need for grafting, giving the wine an authentic and deep terroir character.
Grape variety: 100 % Verdejo, grown on vineyards that often reach between 100–200 years of age and grow as ungrafted vines, which is unique for the Segovia region.
Vineyard: The vineyards lie predominantly on sandy, mineral-rich soils of northern Segovia, at an altitude of around 900 m with cooler climatic influences, which contribute to the freshness and minerality of the wines. The sandy structure of the terroir also prevented phylloxera, so the vines here remained ungrafted (free-standing), which gives the wine an intense connection to the soil and a pronounced individuality.
Ageing: The grapes are hand-picked and selected, then fermented with native yeasts and age for approximately 9 months "sur lie" (on the lees), often in a combination of stainless steel vessels and wooden barrels or foudres, which adds texture, complexity and depth without losing freshness.
Aromatics and taste: Ossian is characterised by an intense and elegant aromatics of citrus, ripe white fruit, delicate herbal and mineral notes with a light touch of wood or spice depending on the vintage. On the palate it is balanced, medium to full-bodied, with fresh acidity, a rich texture and a long, harmonious finish that reflects the authenticity and depth of the terroir.
Food pairing: This wine pairs wonderfully with aromatic fish, seafood, grilled white meat, risottos or delicate cheeses. The recommended serving temperature is 9–12°C, so that its freshness, minerality and complex aromatic layers can fully express themselves.
