Suertes del Marqués, La Solana, D.O. Valle de la Orotava, red wine, 0.75l
La Solana from Suertes del Marqués is a dry red wine made from 100% Listán Negro, with the unmistakable terroir of the volcanic vineyards of the Valle de La Orotava.
Grapes from ungrafted vineyards are grown using the traditional Cordon Trenzado method, ferment with native yeasts in concrete vats and then age for 14 months in French oak barrels, giving the wine subtle spicy complexity.
La Solana impresses with its fresh taste and pronounced notes of red fruit, subtle herbal accents and mineral depth, while velvety tannins and a harmonious structure make it an elegant and authentic example of the Spanish volcanic tradition.

Grape variety:
La Solana is a dry red wine made 100% from the native Listán Negro variety, typical of Tenerife. The grapes are not crushed, so as to preserve their pure fruit character and the authentic terroir of the volcanic soil.
Vineyard:
The grapes come from the ungrafted vineyards of the Suertes del Marqués winery in the Valle de La Orotava. The vineyards are trained using the traditional Cordon Multiple Trenzado method, in which the vine's cordon is braided by hand, supporting low yields and high-quality grapes. Ungrafted vineyards are very rare in Europe, since most varieties were grafted after the phylloxera epidemic.
Production:
Fermentation takes place spontaneously using native yeasts in epoxy-free concrete vats, to preserve freshness and the fruity character of the grapes. The wine then ages for 14 months in 500-litre French oak barrels, adding subtle notes of spice and wood.
Aroma and taste:
La Solana shows a fresh taste with hints of red fruit, especially cherries and raspberries, and subtle herbal notes, which give the wine a sophisticated freshness. The mineral background of the volcanic soil combines with a full structure and velvety tannins, creating a harmonious and elegant wine suited to both immediate enjoyment and further ageing.
Food pairing:
The wine is ideal with red meat, roast goose or lamb, but also with more pronounced cheeses and charcuterie. It is recommended to serve it at 16–18 °C, so as to fully bring out its aromatics and the fine structure of its tannins.
