Suertes del Marqués, 7 Fuentes, D.O. Valle de la Orotava, red wine, 0.75l
The 7 Fuentes wine from the Suertes del Marqués winery comes from the Valle de Orotava area on the island of Tenerife and is based mainly on the Listán Negro variety, complemented with Tintilla.
Grapes from ungrafted vineyards on volcanic slopes give rise to a wine with an authentic terroir character, while gentle production with spontaneous fermentation and short maceration preserves its elegance and freshness.
The nose and palate are dominated by subtle notes of cherries and raspberries, complemented by light spicy and mineral nuances, the wine has a light to medium-light body, lively acidity and very good drinkability, making it a great match for tapas, grilled meat and Mediterranean cuisine.

Grape variety:
The 7 Fuentes wine is made mainly from the Listán Negro variety, complemented by a smaller share of the Tintilla variety. These are traditional native varieties from Tenerife, which give the wine its characteristic, authentic expression.
Vineyard:
The grapes come from vineyards in the Valle de Orotava area, where the vines are grown on steep slopes at an altitude of approximately 350–700 metres. The soils are of volcanic origin, rich in mineral content, giving the wine its specific structure and subtle minerality. The vineyards are exceptional in being ungrafted, which is very rare in Europe following the phylloxera epidemic. The vines are trained using the unique traditional "cordón trenzado" (braided cordon) system, which is labour-intensive but contributes to higher grape quality.
Production:
Fermentation takes place in small vessels using spontaneous, natural yeasts. The wine undergoes a short and gentle maceration, which preserves its elegance and fruity character. At the Suertes del Marqués cellar, minimal intervention is applied. Emphasis is placed on a pure expression of the variety and the terroir. Ageing takes place mainly in neutral vessels (such as older wooden barrels or concrete), so as not to suppress the wine's natural character.
Aroma and taste:
The wine has a lighter ruby colour and a light to medium-light body. The nose and palate are dominated by subtle notes of red fruit, especially cherries and raspberries, complemented by light spicy and mineral nuances typical of the volcanic subsoil. The expression is fresh, elegant and very drinkable, with pleasant acidity and a clean, balanced finish.
Food pairing:
Thanks to its lightness and freshness, the wine pairs beautifully with a wide range of dishes. It goes excellently with grilled meat, poultry, tapas, charcuterie or lighter preparations of red meat. It also works well with vegetarian dishes, especially Mediterranean cuisine. It is recommended to serve it lightly chilled (approx. 14–16 °C), so as to bring out its fruitiness and freshness.
