D.O. Rueda/Basa 1.5l
Telmo Rodríguez BASA is a fresh, dry white wine from the D.O. Rueda region, which clearly shows the character of the Verdejo variety with a small proportion of Viura.
On the nose it offers delicate fruity aromas of green apple, pear and citrus, complemented by subtle herbal and mineral notes, while on the palate the wine is clean, fresh and well balanced, with pleasant acidity and a dry, slightly herbal finish that leaves a feeling of both harmony and energy.
Ageing the wine in a larger bottle is considered to produce a higher quality result, since the smaller ratio of oxygen to wine volume leads to slower, more even oxidation. This results in a calmer development of the wine, better preservation of freshness, fruitiness and aromatics, and a gradual, harmonious development of complex notes. A larger volume also better withstands temperature fluctuations, so the wine stays more balanced, more refined and has a longer ageing potential than the same wine in a standard bottle.

Telmo Rodríguez is a Spanish winery founded in 1994. It has a worldwide reputation as a pioneer championing Spanish winemaking, a travelling oenologist and a "driving wine-maker". It earned this reputation above all by travelling to individual wine regions to make single-harvest wines using only the native varieties of each area. It also devotes special care to reviving forgotten vineyards. The Telmo Rodríguez brand reflects an immense love of wine and fine winemaking craft.
Telmo Rodríguez Basa is one of the pioneering wines that expresses the Verdejo variety adapted to the continental climate of Spain's Rueda region. This white wine is direct, fresh and expressive - typical of a style shaped by the soil, the climate and a traditional approach to viticulture.
Grape variety: 90% Verdejo and 10% Viura, where Verdejo gives the wine its fruitiness, freshness and terroir character, while Viura adds finesse and structure.
Vineyard: The grapes come from various vineyards within D.O. Rueda, mainly from the villages of La Seca, Serrada, Pozaldez and Foncastín. The soils consist of gravel from fluvial terraces, erosion slopes and glacis, which helps to create the wine's mineral, fresh character.
Production and ageing: After harvest, fermentation and ageing take place in stainless steel (INOX) tanks for several months, allowing the wine to retain its pure fruit character, fresh acidity and expressive personality.
Taste and aroma: The wine has a pale yellow colour with greenish glints. On the nose you will find citrus notes, white and tropical fruit, delicate herbs and mineral nuances, which round out its clean, fresh profile. On the palate the wine is balanced, with good acidity, medium body and a harmonious finish. Simply a fresh, dry and delicious wine.
Food pairing: Recommended serving temperature 7-10 °C. It goes wonderfully with lighter fish dishes, seafood, sushi, tempura, salads and pasta with a light sauce, where its freshness and fruity character can really shine.
