This intense ruby red wine from the La Rioja region in Spain is made from the Tempranillo variety. The grapes are hand-picked from vineyards in San Vicente de la Sonsierra and Labastida. The grapes are hand-sorted both in the vineyard and in the cellar. Fermentation takes place at a temperature of between 26 and 28 °C with the help of native yeasts straight from the vineyards. This is followed by maceration for 16 days with stirring twice a day, and the wine then ages for 14 months in barrels of American and French oak. The aroma of this wine offers a fruity spectrum in which ripe cherry or plum stand out the most, with hints of forest fruit in the background. Once aerated, you can detect a mineral taste, given by the vineyards' subsoil. The wine's finish is long and lightly spiced. The Jéroboam size (3 l) is ideal for ageing the wine in the bottle, giving it a more balanced taste. This wine was awarded 90 points by the American expert Robert Parker.
