Biodynamic wines is a category of over 15 wines from organically and sustainably managed vineyards, concentrated mainly around the D.O. Jumilla and D.O. Sierras de Málaga regions. The range includes red, white, rosé and orange wines from the producers Cerrón, F. Schatz and Celler Bellaserra. Biodynamic farming is based on the principles of organic agriculture, but it goes further still - it respects the natural cycles of the soil and the vineyard and excludes synthetic fertilisers and sprays. A speciality of the range is the orange wine Superbloom orange from Celler Bellaserra, made by macerating white grapes on their skins in a similar way to red wine.

How to find your way around this category

The wines are divided by producer and region. Cerrón from D.O. Jumilla offers a wide range of red and white wines (Matas Altas, Remordimiento, La Servil), F. Schatz from D.O. Sierras de Málaga focuses on red wines including the Petit Verdot variety, and Celler Bellaserra from Catalonia offers, alongside a classic rosé, an unconventional orange wine.

The choice is guided, as with other wines, mainly by colour and style - the biodynamic approach additionally promises more considerate growing without synthetic interventions.

Producers and their wines

F. Schatz D.O. Sierras de Málaga Red, including the Petit Verdot variety Red meat, matured cheeses
Celler Bellaserra Cataluňa Rosé and orange (Superbloom) Lighter menus, cheeses, seasoned dishes

You will always find the specific variety and style of a given wine in its product detail.

What orange wine is

Orange wine is made from white grapes whose juice remains in contact with the skins for a longer time, similarly to the production of red wine. As a result it acquires an amber to orange colour, more pronounced tannins and a more complex flavour than classic white wine.

Orange wine is a tasting experience for more experienced tasters - it has a more pronounced and less balanced flavour than ordinary white or rosé wine.
