D.O.Jumilla/Matas Altas tinto 0.75l
Matas Altas from Bodegas Cerrón is a red wine from the Jumilla region in Spain.
It is made predominantly from the Monastrell variety and shows a deep ruby red colour and a complex aromatic profile with notes of blackberries, strawberry compote, hibiscus and green pepper. On the palate it is juicy, with fine tannins and balanced acidity, which underlines the fruity and spicy nuances.

In 1980, following a trip to France, the third generation of the winery planted some experimental vineyards in the very calcareous soils of the Fuente-Álamo area.
Grape variety: Predominantly the Monastrell variety, complemented by other traditional varieties such as Garnacha, Bobal, Forcallat and Bonicaire.
Vineyard: The grapes come from 50-year-old vines, grown on various types of limestone soil at altitudes between 800 and 1,000 metres above sea level.
Harvest and ageing: Grapes are hand-picked and selected. Fermentation takes place spontaneously using natural yeasts, ageing in French and American oak barrels. This ageing process gives the wine greater complexity and finesse. Ageing in wooden barrels helps develop its aromatic profile, adds delicate spicy notes and ensures good structure, which increases its potential for bottle ageing.
Taste and aroma: Matas Altas shows a deep ruby red colour and a complex aromatic profile with notes of blackberries, strawberry compote, hibiscus and green pepper. On the palate it is juicy, with fine tannins and balanced acidity, which underlines the fruity and spicy nuances.
Food pairing: The recommended serving temperature for this wine is around 16-18 °C. It pairs well with grilled meat, such as beef steak, or with mature cheeses, such as parmesan or manchego. It also goes excellently with game, such as venison or wild boar.
