F. Schatz, Petit Verdot, D.O. Sierras de Málaga, red wine, 0.75l

A very intense wine aged for 12 months "sur lie" with "bâtonnage" (occasional stirring of the lees back into the wine) in Slovenian oak barrels. The ageing method in the presence of the lees brings out the individual aromas and gives the wine a richer flavour. It is also more stable, more complex and reaches a lower sulphur content. The length of ageing is left to the winemaker's judgement.
Thanks to organic, biodynamic farming practices, even the climatic difficulties were overcome. The year was very dry and warm, with summer temperatures climbing to 40 degrees and above for several weeks. Fortunately the vines are already well rooted and produced a complete harvest with very good grape ripeness, healthy and, in the end, surprisingly well balanced, with a fantastic natural acidity.

Tasting notes: A bold aroma of eucalyptus, chocolate and mint. The colour of this wine is cherry red with purplish highlights. A harmonious flavour of redcurrant with a chocolate finish. Petit Verdot is a wine with a fantastic acidity and Atlantic freshness.

Food pairing: If you are looking for something to enrich your evening table, Petit Verdot is the ideal choice. It complements tapas in the form of jamón, sausages and various salamis, pasta or a cheese board. We recommend serving at a temperature of around 15°C.
