Telmo Rodríguez, Falcoeira A Capilla, D.O. Valdeorras, red wine, 0.75l
Telmo Rodríguez Falcoeira "A Capilla" is a fascinating wine, because it comes from the replanted historic Falcoeira vineyard in D.O. Valdeorras, where old local varieties are grown on granite-soil slopes using the traditional goblet training system, giving the wine a unique terroir character and depth. Each bottle represents a unique blend of history, place and hand craftsmanship, making it ideal for lovers of authentic, expressive wines who want to taste something truly exceptional.

Telmo Rodríquez is a Spanish winery founded in 1994. Around the world it has earned a reputation as a pioneer championing Spanish winemaking, a travelling oenologist and a "driving winemaker". It has earned this reputation mainly by travelling to individual wine regions to make single-harvest wines using only the original varieties of each area. It also devotes special care to restoring forgotten vineyards. The Telmo Rodríquez brand reflects an immense love of wine and fine winemaking craft.
The Telmo Rodríguez Falcoeira "A Capilla" wine is a bold red wine that represents an authentic expression of one of the most prized and historically most acclaimed vineyard plots in the Ladeiras do Bibei area, D.O. Valdeorras. The vineyard lay abandoned for decades, but Telmo Rodríguez and his team have restored it and brought it back to life. Today it produces a wine with a unique terroir character.

Grape variety: The wine is a field blend, a mix of traditional local varieties grown together in the vineyard, including Mencía, Brancellao, Sousón, Garnacha Tintorera and other native varieties.
Vineyard: The grapes come from steep, narrow south-facing terraces at altitudes of 400–600 m above sea level. The soils are acidic, coarse and granitic, giving the wine a pronounced minerality and depth. The vineyard is farmed organically, using the traditional goblet = no wire trellising, system, and hand harvesting.
Production and ageing: After hand harvesting, fermentation takes place with native yeasts, followed by 14–16 months of ageing in large oak barrels and foudres, which give the wine intensity and complex structure without excessive oak influence.
Taste and aroma: The wine is characterised by intense depth and elegance, with an aroma of ripe forest fruit, herbs, delicate floral accents and mineral tones from the granite soil. On the palate it is balanced, juicy, with fine tannins and a long, complex finish that combines fruity expression with terroir depth.
Food pairing: Recommended serving temperature 14–16 °C. It is ideally served with grilled lamb, beef steaks, roast game, braised meat or mushroom risotto, where it enhances the intensity of the dish without overpowering it. It also pairs excellently with intense cheeses such as Manchego or Mahón curado, as well as mildly spiced tapas. Thanks to its fresh acidity and fine tannins, it is also suitable for lighter Mediterranean dishes with olive oil, herbs and tomatoes, making it a wine equally at home at a festive dinner or a weekend gathering with friends.
