Enate Merlot‑Merlot is a rich and full-bodied red wine from D.O. Somontano in Spain, made from 100% Merlot, showing intense aromatics of ripe red fruit, balsamic and spicy notes (e.g. eucalyptus and cloves) with subtle hints of dried apricots, cocoa and gentle toast from oak ageing.
On the palate the wine is meaty, harmonious with quality sweet tannins and a long finish with touches of ink and leather, making it a distinctive and elegant example of Merlot, which pairs beautifully with braised and grilled red meats, game dishes, aromatic ragouts and pronounced cheeses, and is ideally served at 16–18 °C to fully bring out its character.

Enate Merlot‑Merlot is an elegant and distinctive red wine from D.O. Somontano in Spain, made from 100% Merlot, which combines rich fruity aromatics with depth and a subtly spicy character, gained through ageing in oak barrels. The nose recalls ripe red fruit, a touch of eucalyptus, subtle spice and notes of cocoa or toast, while on the palate it is full, harmonious and shows smooth tannins, with a long, elegant finish.
Label: Specially designed for Enate by the artist Frederic Amat, part of the winery's philosophy of linking wine and art, giving each bottle a visual identity.
Grape variety: 100% Merlot, a variety known for its fruitiness, softness and ability to create elegant, well-structured wines.
Ageing and production: The wine ages for approximately 14–15 months in oak barrels, which gives it depth, complexity and a subtle woody aromatics, with each barrel contributing to the harmonious expression of the whole wine.
Tasting notes: The wine has an intense ruby colour, a rich aroma of ripe cherries and plums with a subtle spicy and cocoa undertone. On the palate it is full, structured and velvety, with smooth tannins and a long finish that underlines its maturity and elegance.
Food pairing: Ideally served at 16–18 °C. It pairs well with game dishes, braised meats, grilled beef, smoked meat, ragouts or cheese with an intense flavour. It also pairs beautifully with some modern recipes, for example a burger with caramelised onion and Stilton cheese, or Iberian pork meatballs with Spanish sauce.
