Viñedos en Labastida is particularly interesting because it represents a typical "vino de pueblo" - a wine that faithfully expresses the character of the specific village of Labastida and the terroir of its old vineyards. The combination of Tempranillo, Garnacha and a small proportion of white varieties, together with hand harvesting and spontaneous fermentation, creates a wine that is elegant and complex, yet also natural and authentic. Ageing in smaller French oak barrels preserves the purity of the fruit and the mineral undertone, giving the wine depth, harmony and a long finish, which sets it apart from ordinary red Riojas and makes it an exceptional experience for lovers of terroir-driven wines.
D.O. Rioja/José Gil, Labastida 0.75l
Viñedos en Labastida is an elegant red wine by winemaker José Gil, representing a classic "vino de pueblo" - that is, a wine from a specific village, Labastida.
It comes from two older vineyards (45 and 80 years old) situated on limestone-clay soils at an altitude of 480–540 m above sea level, dominated by Tempranillo complemented by Garnacha and a small percentage of white varieties such as Viura and Palomino, giving the wine depth, freshness and a complex character.
After fermentation the wine ages 11 months in 500 l French oak barrels, gaining a harmonious structure, fine tannins and a well-balanced character.
The wine has an intense red colour, an aroma of dark and red fruit with a touch of delicate spicy and herbal notes, while the taste is harmonious, with balanced acidity, smooth tannins and a long finish that faithfully reflects the terroir and the precise work of the winemaker.

Grape variety: The wine is built mainly on Tempranillo with a supplement of Garnacha and a small proportion of Viura and Palomino, creating a fresh, aromatic profile with an elegant fruity component and structure.
Ageing: After hand harvesting and destemming, fermentation takes place with natural (indigenous) yeasts in concrete tanks, followed by 11 months of ageing in 500 l French oak barrels, which give the wine complexity, depth and a subtle woody component without overpowering the character of the terroir.
Vineyard: The grapes come from two vineyards in Labastida, one around 45 and the other around 80 years old; both lie on soils with clay and limestone, which give the wine a mineral undertone and a balanced structure.
Tasting notes: The wine has an intense red colour, an aroma of dark and red fruit with a touch of delicate spicy and herbal notes, while the taste is harmonious, with balanced acidity, smooth tannins and a long finish that faithfully reflects the terroir and the precise work of the winemaker.
Awards:
