D.O. Rioja/José Gil, El Bardallo 0.75l
El Bardallo is a bold red wine from the Rioja region by winemaker José Gil, made from selected older Tempranillo vineyards with a small proportion of Viura on limestone-clay soils. It offers an intense ruby colour, a fruity aroma of dark and red fruit and subtle mineral notes, while on the palate it is elegant with a harmonious structure and a long finish. This project represents the distinctive style of a young winemaker who places emphasis on expressing the terroir and precise work in both the vineyard and the cellar.

El Bardallo is an impressive red wine from Rioja by winemaker José Gil, coming from the unique El Bardallo plot with 40 to 45-year-old Tempranillo vines and a small proportion of Viura on limestone-clay soil with sandstone. The wine was aged 11 months in neutral 500 l French oak barrels following spontaneous fermentation with hand-harvested and destemmed grapes, giving it an elegant profile, clear fruity notes of dark and red fruit, a harmonious structure with fine tannins and mineral depth that faithfully reflects the terroir of this exceptional place and the careful work of the José Gil winery.
Grape variety: The wine is based mainly on Tempranillo with a small proportion of Viura, which together create a structured and elegant red profile typical of the unique terroir of the El Bardallo plot.
Ageing: After hand harvesting and destemming, fermentation takes place with natural yeasts in 500 l French oak barrels, where the wine then ages for 11 months, adding complexity, depth and a smooth structure.
Vineyard: The grapes come from vineyards around 40 years old in El Bardallo. At an altitude of around 560 m above sea level on limestone-clay soils, facing north-east, which contribute to an elegant and pure expression of the wine's aromas and structure.
Food pairing: Thanks to its elegance, balanced tannins and mineral depth, El Bardallo pairs excellently with grilled red meat, roast lamb, stewed dishes and mature cheeses, where it beautifully complements the richness and structure of these dishes.
Awards: El Bardallo achieves excellent results with critics.
