Orben, Orben, D.O. Rioja, red wine, 0.75l

Orben is a wine from the Rioja region. It is made by Bodegas Orben, the youngest winery in the Artevino group, which also includes the wineries Viña Izadi and Finca Villacreces, known for the exceptional quality of their wines, and Bodegas Vetus. The grapes used to make Orben wine come from vineyards grown on 79 micro-plots in Laguardia, in the Rioja Alavesa region. This is an area where the Mediterranean and Atlantic climates meet, resulting in mild temperatures for most of the year. The wine is a blend of Tempranillo (97%) and Graciano (3%) grapes. The vineyards used were planted between 1945 and 1954 on limestone clay soils. As for the winemaking process, the harvest is done by hand using 15 kg crates. The grapes then pass over a selection table. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, while malolactic fermentation takes place in barrels. Finally, the wine ages for 12 months in fine-grained French oak barrels.
