Alión is an iconic red wine from the Tempos Vega Sicilia winery group, made exclusively from the Tinto Fino (Tempranillo) variety in the Ribera del Duero appellation.

The grapes come from carefully selected vineyards and after hand harvesting mature in oak barrels, where the wine gains its depth, structure and longevity.

Vineyard:
The grapes come from carefully selected vineyards in the D.O. Ribera del Duero appellation, spread across the provinces of Valladolid, Burgos, Soria and Segovia. The vineyards have an average age of 40 years and are located at an altitude of approximately 750 m above sea level. The grapes are hand-harvested into 12kg crates and, after arriving at the winery, undergo double quality control.
Ageing:
After hand harvesting, the grapes undergo careful sorting and fermentation in wooden vats. The wine then ages for 12 months in a combination of oak barrels, oak vats and concrete containers, where the individual batches are gradually blended together. After bottling it rests for a further 18 months in the bottle before being released to the market. This process contributes to the harmony, balance and longevity of the wine.
Taste and aroma:
The wine excels in remarkable balance, silky structure and depth. Thanks to a favourable growing season, the grapes reached optimal ripeness while retaining freshness and fruit character. The aroma blends notes of ripe plums, cherries and blueberries, complemented by delicate herbal and spicy nuances along with elegantly integrated notes of oak ageing. On the palate the wine is full, harmonious and fresh, with fine, perfectly integrated tannins, pronounced fruitiness and a long, elegant finish.
Tasting notes:
The recommended serving temperature is 18 °C. Alión pairs wonderfully with beef steaks, lamb, game, roast duck and mature hard cheeses. Thanks to its rich structure and elegance it also goes excellently with mushroom or truffle dishes.
It is recommended to open the wine approximately 1 hour in advance, so that its full aromatic and flavour profile can develop. When properly stored, the wine has the potential to age for up to 20 years, during which it retains its elegance, structure and complexity.
