D.O. Ribera del Duero/Aalto PS 0.75l
Aalto PS is a prestigious wine from Bodegas Aalto in the D.O. Ribera del Duero area. The designation "PS" (Pagos Seleccionados) refers to a selection of grapes from the best and oldest vineyards of the Tinto Fino variety.
In the glass it shows a deep, intense dark ruby colour. The nose is complex and rich, with notes of ripe black fruit such as blackberries and plums, complemented by subtle spice, cocoa, tobacco and a touch of minerality. Thanks to ageing in new French oak barrels, the wine gains an elegant structure and exceptional depth.
The wine has a high ageing potential of 10–15 years or more, over which its complexity and harmonious elements will deepen further.

Aalto PS 2023 is the pinnacle expression of Bodegas Aalto, one of the most prestigious producers of the D.O. Ribera del Duero area in Spain. Behind it stands the legendary oenologist Mariano García, former technical director of Vega Sicilia, who decided to create his own project highlighting the maximum expression of the Tinta Fino (Tempranillo) variety and the terroir of Ribera del Duero. The aim was to create a wine that is modern yet traditionally elegant, combining the concentration, depth and longevity typical of great Spanish red wines. The 2023 vintage is considered very high quality thanks to ideal climatic conditions and careful grape selection.

Grape variety: The wine is made from carefully selected grapes of the Tinto Fino (Tempranillo) variety.
Vineyard:
The grapes come from more than 200 small, carefully selected plots, mainly from the La Horra and La Aguilera areas. The vineyards are 60–90 years old, which ensures low yields and a high concentration of aromas. The soils are a combination of clay, sand and stone, which enriches the wine with mineral nuances and its characteristic structure.
Production:
The harvest is carried out by hand into small crates, and the grapes are then carefully sorted to remove unripe or damaged fruit. Fermentation takes place in both stainless steel and concrete vessels at a controlled temperature, which preserves freshness, purity of fruit and terroir. After alcoholic fermentation, malolactic fermentation takes place in oak barrels, softening the acids and giving the wine a smooth expression. The wine then ages for approximately 21 months in new French oak barrels, where it gains complex notes of wood, spice and cocoa without overwhelming its pronounced fruit aroma. After bottling it is left to age for a further few months so that all the flavours integrate perfectly and the wine is ready to be released.
Aroma and taste:
The wine shows a deep dark ruby to purple colour. The nose is intense and complex, with dominant notes of ripe dark fruit (blackberries, blackcurrants and plums), complemented by subtle hints of liquorice, chocolate, spice, cedar and fine wood. On the palate the wine is full, concentrated and harmonious, with a firm yet velvety tannin structure, balanced acidity and a long, elegant finish. The wine combines power and concentration with finesse and elegance, allowing it to be enjoyed immediately or aged in the bottle for the long term.
Food pairing:
Thanks to its intensity and complexity, the wine pairs wonderfully with grilled beef steaks, roast lamb, game and slow-braised meats, where it highlights the flavour nuances of the dish. It is also excellent with strong cheeses, tapas and charcuterie, or with dishes featuring intense sauces based on red wine or mushrooms.
For the best experience, it is recommended to decant and serve at a temperature of 16–18 °C, so that its aromatics and finely structured tannins can fully develop.
