An excellent wine of cherry colour, made from the Tempranillo variety and a small proportion of the Syrah variety. The 2014 vintage was described by the winery itself as the most successful in recent years. It is a wine that will satisfy every lover of red wine. The grapes are pressed by hand and then also sorted by hand, and undergo traditional macerations and fermentations. The wine ages for 15 months in barrique barrels and is characterised by a rich fruity aroma with a creamy base and romantic notes. Bodegas Mauro is  a small exclusive winery located in a beautiful 17th-century setting in Tudela de Duero, east of Valladolid. Since its founding in 1980, Mauro has been known for its limited production of quality, cellar-worthy wines. The winery pays close attention to strict control, careful sorting of the grapes and the most rigorous criteria in production and ageing. Moreover, its impressive know-how is based on the success of Mariano García's winery and his family. Mariano Garcia  is a leading Spanish winemaker, considered by many to be a member of the so-called "noble trio" from Ribera del Duero (together with Peter Sisseck (Dominio Pingus) and Alejandro Fernández of Pesquera). The winery owns 45 hectares of vineyards in the provinces of Tudela de Duero and Santibáñez de Valcorba. The history and fame of the wine from this area dates back to 1562, when King Philip II of Spain granted the estate an exemption from paying taxes due to the exceptional quality of the wine. In this area, with a continental climate influenced by the Atlantic, and poor, loose and well-drained soil (depending on the area, clay-limestone, sandy or limestone), the varieties Tempranillo, Syrah and Garnacha (Grenache) are grown. Mariano García says, "If we stick to the original oenological practices that above all respect the identity of the wine's fruit, we try to let the wine decide for itself and show what it is, and the period used will be in line with various selections and characteristics, we achieve a vintage of wonderful results." Mariano's philosophy - the man who was at the birth of the Vega Sicilia winery, where he was the head oenologist at the time of its greatest fame - is the production of structured, cellar-worthy wines with a balance between fruity flavours and oak.
