The 2022 vintage is among the strongest and most highly rated in the history of Las Beatas, marked by great purity, energy and significant potential for long-term ageing.
It pairs wonderfully with grilled and roasted red meat, lamb, game, stews and mature cheeses. The recommended serving temperature is 16–18 °C, ideally after decanting, so that its complex flavour and aroma can fully develop.

Telmo Rodríguez is a Spanish winery founded in 1994. He has a reputation worldwide as a pioneer championing Spanish winemaking, a travelling oenologist and a "driving wine-maker". He earned this reputation above all by travelling to individual regions to make wines from a single harvest using only the region's native grape varieties. In addition, he devotes special care to restoring forgotten vineyards. The Telmo Rodríguez brand reflects an immense love of wine and fine winemaking craft.
The Telmo Rodríguez Las Beatas 2022 wine is an exceptional red wine from a unique vineyard covering approximately 1.9 ha in Rioja Alavesa (Labastida), where terraced vines planted on soils made up of continental conglomerates, sandstone and marl outcrops give the wine depth and a mineral character typical of this "grand cru"-level terroir. The Las Beatas project is the result of long years of effort to restore ancient vineyards with traditional "field blend" plantings and is considered one of the finest expressions of terroir in Rioja.
The 2022 vintage reflects climatic conditions marked by a warmer growing season and optimal grape ripeness, resulting in a wine with pronounced aromatic complexity, lively acidity and an elegant structure with high ageing potential.
Grape varieties: Tempranillo, Graciano, Garnacha and Garnacha Blanca form the traditional field blend, lending the wine a complex fruit and structural profile with a rich range of cherry, dark fruit, floral and mineral tones, fine tannins and crisp acidity, all of which together create a harmonious and sophisticated, elegant structure.
Awards:
100 points – Jeb Dunnuck, named Best Spanish Wine 2025
98 points – Tim Atkin
Production: The grapes are hand-picked and vinified using a traditional method, with fermentation using native yeasts followed by ageing for approximately 14–16 months in large French oak foudres of around 1,200 l, which allows the wine to develop a complex structure and depth without a dominant oak character. Production is very limited, making every bottle a collector's item.
Aromatic profile and taste: The wine presents an intense ruby colour with a complex bouquet of dark forest fruit, fresh and dried herbs, mineral and spicy nuances and floral tones. On the palate it is full and elegant, with finely structured tannins, crisp acidity and a long, harmonious finish that shows a wonderful balance between fruit, structure and terroir.
Food pairing: It pairs wonderfully with dishes of grilled or roasted red meat, lamb, stews, game, roast poultry or pronounced cheeses. The recommended serving temperature is 16–18 °C, ideally after decanting to fully open up the aromas and complex flavours.
