Bodegas Aldonia is a family winery located on the famous pilgrimage route Camino de Santiago, in the small town of Navarrete. Its name is derived from "La Dona", one of the most noble family vineyards, closely tied to the winery's history. The winery's roots go back to the beginning of the 20th century, when it was significantly influenced by winemaking techniques from Bordeaux. Today the estate is run by the fourth generation of winemakers, who continue this tradition while also creating their own distinctive style.

The winery's philosophy is built on careful hand work in the vineyards and maximum respect for the grapes and the local terroir. Bodegas Aldonia wines differ from many other wines from the Rioja region through their strong personality, which comes mainly from the Garnacha variety grown at higher altitudes, in some vineyards even above 850 metres. Garnacha makes up more than 60% of all the wines, and in some cases is used at even a hundred percent.

Ageing takes place mostly in larger, 500-litre barrels, so as to preserve the purity and character of the wine and prevent the wood from overpowering its natural expression. At the same time, the winery does not follow strict conventional categories, but focuses above all on preserving the authenticity, elegance and uniqueness of the Navarra terroir. For the best experience, we recommend opening the bottle around an hour before serving, so the wine can fully develop.
