Mascaró Initium Cava Reserva Brut was historically the first cava launched by the Mascaró winery.
A sparkling wine from the Penedès region, made using the traditional bottle-fermentation method. It ages for at least 24 months, which gives it finesse and complexity.
It has a light yellow colour with delicate bubbles, an aroma of fruit and delicate notes of lees. The flavour is balanced, with a pleasant creaminess and a long finish. Ideal as an aperitif or with dishes from Mediterranean and Asian cuisine.

Grape variety: This cava is a cuvée made up of 60% Parellada, 30% Macabeo and 10% Xarel·lo, the three basic varieties that form the backbone of traditional sparkling wines from this region.
Vineyard: The grapes come from the Mascaró family winery's own vineyards, especially from the Mas Miquel estate in the Alt Camp area. The winery places great emphasis on precise work in the vineyard, hand-picking and careful selection of the grapes. Initium translates as "beginning", referring to its role as an entry-point wine into the world of Mascaró cava.
Ageing: Aged for at least 24 months on the lees, giving it finesse, elegance and depth of flavour. The Brut style means the wine contains a small amount of added sugar, which supports its harmony and roundness.
Taste and aroma: Mascaró Initium has a light yellow colour with golden highlights and delicate, persistent effervescence. The aroma reveals notes of ripe fruit, citrus and hints of pastry, the result of long ageing on the lees. On the palate the wine is fresh, harmonious and pleasantly creamy, with well-balanced acidity and a long finish.
Tasting notes: Thanks to its versatility, Initium is ideal as an aperitif, but it also pairs wonderfully with Mediterranean cuisine, light starters, fish, seafood, and even Asian cuisine, for example sushi or Thai dishes with delicate spicing.
