Viñedos Ponce, La Estrecha, D.O. Manchuela, red wine, 0.75l
Ponce La Estrecha is a red wine from the Castilian region of Manchuela made from the Bobal variety. The name of the wine originates from the Spanish word "estrechez", meaning lack of space, referring to the densely planted vineyard (1700 vines per hectare).
This wine is characterised by a cherry colour with garnet tones. It surprises with an intense aroma, in which ripe red fruit predominates, with spice, liquorice and delicate barrel notes in the background. On the palate it is fresh, with pleasant acidity and a long finish.

La Estrecha is a complex and elegant red wine from D.O. Manchuela from the family winery Bodegas y Viñedos Ponce. The grapes come from vineyards 75 years old, planted on limestone-based soil at an altitude of 870 m above sea level, where the continental climate, with hot days, cold nights and low humidity, allows for slow ripening and perfect colouring of the grapes.
Grape variety: Although the main component is Bobal, the vineyards also contain a small amount of Moravia, Autumn Royal and the white variety Marisancho, which give the wine freshness, a delicate fruity structure and elegant nuances.
Ageing and production: Fermentation takes place using natural (indigenous) yeasts in wooden vessels. The wine then ages 11 months in 600-litre barrels, after which it is bottled unfiltered and unfined, so as to preserve its authentic character and terroir expression.
Vineyard: The grapes come from several carefully tended plots, where the terroir, with its limestone base and altitude of 870 m, gives the wine a mineral tone, structure and intense colour.
Tasting notes: The wine has a deep ruby colour, the aroma combines red and dark fruit, delicate spicy tones and herbal accents. On the palate it is harmonious, fresh and elegant, with soft tannins and a long, balanced finish that reflects the terroir and the winemaker's careful work.
Food pairing: Thanks to its complexity and elegant structure, it pairs wonderfully with mature cheeses, game, lamb, poultry, pulses and red meat.
Awards: The wine received 94 points from Robert Parker, confirming its quality and distinctive character among the red wines of the La Manchuela region.
