La Aguilera is an outstanding red wine of the Tempranillo variety.
Clay-limestone soils lend the wine freshness, complexity and an unmistakable fruity-floral character. On the palate it is flavourful and powerful, with fresh fruity tones, elegant tannins and a long finish.

Grape variety: 100% Tempranillo
Origin and vineyard: The wine comes from the village of La Aguilera at the heart of the D.O. Ribera del Duero winemaking region. The grapes come from plantings over 45 years old, located at a high altitude of between 820 and 870 metres above sea level. The vineyards spread across slopes of varying orientation, which contributes to even, balanced ripening of the grapes. The soils are predominantly clay-sandy with a high mineral content, giving the wine depth and complexity. The surrounding natural vegetation also creates a microclimate that supports aromatic purity and elegance in the wine.
Production and ageing: The grapes are hand-harvested into small crates and undergo double selection. First of whole bunches, then of individual berries. This is followed by cold pre-fermentation maceration at 5 °C, which highlights the fruity character. The wine ferments in stainless steel tanks and then ages 14 months in barrels of French and American oak, partly new and partly used. This ageing method brings the wine elegance, depth and gentle complexity without overpowering the fruity profile.
Taste and aroma: The wine's colour is deep cherry to purple with violet glints. The aroma is deep and layered. Ripe black fruit dominates, especially blackberries and plums, complemented by tones of violets, herbs (rosemary, thyme) and light balsamic tones, reminiscent of wild forest scrub. On the palate the wine is full, structured, with silky tannins, a lovely acidity and a long, mineral-fruity finish, which confirms both its origin and its precise craftsmanship.
Food pairing: Recommended to be served at a temperature of 16–18 °C, ideally after a short decantation. Pairs excellently with braised meats, game, grilled steaks, and also with traditional Spanish dishes such as roast lamb (lechazo) or rabo de toro. It also pairs wonderfully with hard cheeses and dishes with truffles or mushrooms.
