El Cerrico is one of the highly regarded white wines from Bodegas Cerrón in the D.O. Jumilla area, made from old Airén bush vines grown at an altitude of around 1000 metres.
The wine captivates with its fresh, mineral and elegant character. In the glass it shows a pale straw colour, with aromas of white flowers, honey and delicate dried fruit. On the palate it is full and harmonious, with pleasant acidity and a long, smooth finish reminiscent of green apples.

El Cerrico comes from the family winery Bodega Cerrón, located in the D.O. Jumilla area in the Spanish region of Murcia. The winery is known for its organic and biodynamic approach to viticulture and the restoration of old, historic vineyards.

Vineyard:
The grapes for El Cerrico come from the old "El Cerrico" vineyard plot, planted around 1920 at an altitude of approximately 1,000 m above sea level on limestone and sandy soils containing marine fossils.
Grape variety:
The wine is made from 100% Airén, one of the traditional Spanish white varieties grown in D.O. Jumilla.
Production:
The grapes are hand-harvested and fermentation takes place spontaneously with native yeasts. The wine ages partly in clay vessels (such as tinajas) and then for around 16 months in various containers, which contributes to its complex character.
Taste and aroma:
In the glass the wine has a pale straw-yellow colour. The nose offers a complex aroma of white flowers, subtle aniseed notes and touches of dried fruit and honey. On the palate the wine is full, creamy and mineral, with notes of green apples, with a good balance between ripeness and freshness and a long, saline finish that reflects the character of the limestone soils.
Food pairing:
El Cerrico is, thanks to its fresh acidity, mineral structure and gently creamy character, ideal for food pairing. It goes wonderfully with seafood, fish, delicate white meat or risotto, where it highlights its elegant minerality and aromatic complexity. Thanks to its long, harmonious finish it is also excellent as an aperitif or with lighter starters, where every sip reveals the terroir of the high-altitude D.O. Jumilla vineyards.
