A red wine from Mallorca with an original label by the Mallorcan comic artist Pere Joan. This red-coloured wine has a delicate fruity aroma of red forest fruits. On the palate, fruity, lightly spicy and very elegant notes dominate, with balanced tannins. Serve at a temperature of 14 °C to 16 °C. It pairs wonderfully with beef, veal, poultry and pasta. Grape varieties: Callet, Manto Negro and Cabernet Sauvignon Alcohol content: 13% The Ànima Negra winery from Mallorca was founded by three friends, Francesc Grimalt, Pere Obrador and Miguel Ángel Cerdà. They decided to make authentic wines from Mallorca based on indigenous varieties. Near the small town of Felanitx, they converted a former dairy into what is today one of the best-known wine cellars in the Balearic Islands. In the first year they produced just two barrique barrels of the local Callet variety. The next two years effectively served them as a study project - they were trying to make an ideally well-structured wine from this typical Mallorcan variety. At that time, most wines from Mallorca were simple and did not go through any sophisticated ageing process. Their vineyards in the Son Negre area of Mallorca are characterised by a very windy environment (sea air), low yields (less than half a kilogram of grapes per vine) and an extreme terroir: very poor soil, significant minerality, limited water reserves in the soil, and many other fruit trees in the vineyard. The specific conditions in this vineyard force the winemakers to work with old vines, which have deep roots to find the nutrients they need. This means the winery's production is very small yet complex. Today Ánima Negra works primarily with indigenous varieties such as Callet, Manto Negro, Prensal Blanc, Giro Ros and others.
