Chivite Baluarte Roble red wine, from the D.O. Navarra region, is made from the Tempranillo variety. The wine typically shows a cherry-red colour with a purple rim. It has aromas of ripe red fruit (cherries, raspberries, plums) with a hint of liquorice, incense and cedar. The body is delicate, light and velvety with good structure. A pleasant, long, fruity finish with fine tannin.  We recommend serving at a temperature of 16°C and pairing it with Iberian ham or sheep's cheese.  Bodegas Chivite, founded in 1647, is one of the oldest winemaking dynasties in Spain. Over more than eleven generations the company has grown from its original estate in Navarra to holdings in Rioja, Rueda and Ribera del Duero, becoming one of the most important and one of the most respected producers and exporters of Navarra wines. It achieved worldwide fame when, in 1948, the estate was run by Julián Marco Chivite, who gave the winery its name. He promised to produce only wines of outstanding quality. In 1967 the D.O. Navarra was established, with Julián Chivite as a founding member. In 1980 he received well-deserved recognition through a special honour for his enormous contribution to Spanish wine in the 20th century. Finally, in 1992 he received the "Repartimiento de la Orden del Agrario" from the King of Spain.
