O Gran Meín Tinto 2021 is an authentic red wine from D.O. Ribeiro (Galicia, Spain), produced by the Viña Meín · Emilio Rojo winery, a project known for its traditional viticulture in the Valle del Avia. This wine is an expression of the local small, historic viticultural landscape with a strong influence of the Atlantic climate, ensuring a clean and fresh expression of the local varieties. The grapes come from the small plots of Osebe (0.95 ha) and Ribeira (1.05 ha) and grow on soils rich in decomposed granitic "sábrega" mixed with sand and slate, contributing to the wine's mineral and terroir character.
Grape varieties: The wine is made predominantly from Brancellao and Caíño Longo, two traditional red varieties typical of the Ribeiro region, which together create a fresh and expressive profile.
Production: The grapes are hand-picked into 12 kg crates and, after strict selection on the sorting table, are fermented and aged separately according to the origin of the plots in small stainless-steel tanks and "wine globes". After alcoholic and malolactic fermentation the wine remains 10 months in these tanks, then is bottled in spring 2022 and contains sulphites for greater stability. The wine then aged in bottle for 24 months before release.
Aromatic profile and taste: O Gran Meín Tinto 2021 is characterised by clean and fresh aromas of red and dark fruit, complemented by balsamic and delicate wild aromas. On the palate it is balanced with a pleasant acidity and softer tannins, with a long and harmonious finish that reflects the terroir and the precise work in the vineyards and in the cellar.
Food pairing: It pairs wonderfully with lightly spiced dishes, roasted or braised meat, pork or lamb, as well as with traditional Spanish tapas and mature cheeses. The recommended serving temperature is 16–18 °C, ideally after a short decanting, so that its complex flavour and fresh fruity aromas can fully develop.
