Artadi, El Sequé, D.O. Alicante, red wine, 0.75l
"A wine of rich structure and intense flavour"
It has a dark, ruby colour with violet highlights, and its aroma is complex, with notes of ripe fruit, such as cherries and blackberries, complemented by delicate nuances of spice, tobacco and oak wood. On the palate the wine is characterised by firm tannins and a balanced harmony between fruity and spicy notes. It is aged in French oak barrels, which gives it depth while retaining freshness and fruitiness.

The company Bodegas Artadi was founded in Laguardia in 1985 as the "Cooperative Cosecheros Alaves", under the leadership of Juan Carlos López de Lacalle. It was an association of a group of growers who wanted to collaborate on a business project based on the winemaking wealth of the La Rioja Alavesa region. They wanted to prove that carbonic maceration could also produce great wines, and they succeeded. Artadi's history is bound up with the memories and stories of the people who helped found the winery and make it what it is today. Founded on passion and respect for the soil and the vineyards.
Grape variety: a single-variety wine made from Monastrell
Vineyard: old vines, grown at an altitude of 600 metres on Quaternary sandy soils with a clay subsoil.
Ageing: Vinified in open stainless steel tanks with cold maceration for 24-48 hours and fermentation for 10-12 days, with punch-downs and gentle pump-overs twice a day. It then undergoes malolactic fermentation and is aged for 12 months in 500-litre French oak barrels.
Taste and aroma: the Monastrell variety lends the wine a rich structure and intense flavour.
Tasting notes: We recommend serving at a temperature of 16 °C. El Sequé is the best companion for rich dishes, such as grilled or roast meat, game or matured cheeses. For the best experience, we recommend letting the wine breathe for a while.
