La Calandina/Calanda peaches 1700g
La Calandina peaches come from the Aragón region of Spain, specifically from the town of Calanda and its surroundings. They are renowned for their exceptional quality, sweet flavour and intense aroma. These peaches are harvested later than most other varieties, usually from September to October, which allows them to ripen fully on the tree.

Calanda peaches have a protected designation of origin (D.O.P.), which confirms their unique origin and quality.
Varieties grown: late yellow peaches from the Calanda area, and their clones Jesca, Evaisa and Calante.
Another factor that makes these peaches a unique product is the traditional growing techniques used: thinning and bagging.
The thinning process involves selectively removing most of the fruit from the tree while it is still small and has not yet started ripening. Producing large, high-quality peaches is a demanding and essential task for the tree.
After thinning, the bagging technique begins, essential for singling out the fruit. It is done by hand during the months of June to August. This craft involves bagging the fruit one by one on the tree using translucent, breathable paper. This naturally protects the fruit from fruit flies and creates a special microclimate in which a peach with exceptional qualities develops.
The harvest of the Calanda Peach begins in September and continues almost until the end of October. It is picked at the optimum point of ripeness, resulting in a peach with a high content of aromas and sugars.
In the final stage, the fruit is brought from partner farms to the fruit and vegetable centre. Staff subject it to strict quality controls to ensure that the end consumer can enjoy an authentic, native designation of origin Calanda Peach.
