The Premium extra virgin olive oil is made from the Picual variety. The olives are hand-picked in olive groves in Spanish Andalusia.
The oil has an intense aroma of ripe green olives, tomatoes, apples and freshly cut grass. The flavour is very balanced, yet fresh. It has a sweet base balanced by bitterness and pungency. It has a long aftertaste. It faithfully reflects the true flavour of Picual olives.
It is suitable for salads, cheeses or desserts.
Melgarejo is a family business founded in 1995 by the sons of Francisco Melgarejo and Juana Cordero, in the hope of continuing the work of their ancestors from the last two centuries. The olive mill is located in the town of Pegalajar in the province of Jaén.
The harvest takes place at the beginning of November, after which the oil is transferred into stainless steel tanks and inerted with liquid nitrogen.
Melgarejo oils carry the quality mark "Denominación de Origen Sierra Mágina".
