Salsa romesco comes from Tarragona in north-eastern Spain, where fishermen reportedly originally made it in a mortar and ate it with freshly caught fish. Its base consists of delicious Spanish tomatoes, almonds, a bit of toasted bread and a drop of olive oil and vinagre. The result is a pleasantly delicate, nutty sauce that tastes great even just spread on a piece of bread. El Navarrico is a family company specialising in preserving various types of vegetables and fruit. It was founded in 1950 in the Navarra region of northern Spain.
