Pago de Carraovejas, Cuesta de las Liebres 2018, D.O. Ribera del Duero, red wine, 0.75l
Cuesta de las Liebres – one of the most prestigious wines of Ribera del Duero!
This red wine is created from a carefully selected vineyard on steep slopes, where the Tempranillo variety achieves exceptional ripeness and concentration. The bouquet offers dark fruit, such as plums, black cherries and blackberries, complemented by delicate notes of cocoa, cedar and spice, which round out a complex aromatic profile.
On the palate the wine is full and structured, with smooth, well-integrated tannins and balanced acidity that brings freshness and harmony. The long finish, in which fruity, spicy and mineral nuances intertwine once again, confirms the sophistication and pronounced character of this prestigious red wine.
It is ideal with roasted red meat, game or mature cheeses, and represents a true gem among the wines of Ribera del Duero.

Cuesta de las Liebres is a top-tier red wine from a unique, extremely steep vineyard with a terroir that gives rise to a deep, elegant and expressive Tempranillo. It is one of the most prestigious single-plot expressions from the Pago de Carraovejas winery.
It is produced only in exceptional vintages and represents an authentic, powerful and highly persistent character with a clear connection between the soil, the climate and meticulous work both in the vineyard and in the cellar.

Vineyard: This selection comes from a plot of approximately 3.19 ha, planted in 1994, with soils formed of calcareous marls and characteristic white saline efflorescence. The exceptional microclimate and the vertical shape of the vineyard allow very even ripening, which shows in a clean and pronounced expression of terroir. The Cuesta de las Liebres vineyards are planted on slopes with a gradient of over 30% and rich biodiversity, which contributes to intense aroma development and a structurally firm wine.
Ageing: After hand harvesting and double careful grape selection, spontaneous fermentation takes place in small wooden vats, followed by 24 months of ageing in new French oak barrels, which gives the wine depth, complexity and a finely integrated touch of wood without losing the purity of the fruit.
Aromatics and taste: The wine is characterised by an intense, complex aroma of dark fruit, mulberries, black cherries and plums, complemented by elegant notes of cocoa, cedar, spice and violets. On the palate the wine is robust and structured, with smooth, well-shaped tannins, balanced acidity and a long, persistent finish, where mineral and spicy nuances return together with a lasting fruity expression.
Food pairing: Thanks to its depth, complexity and firm structure, it is ideal with bold dishes. With grilled red meat, game, braised ragouts and fine mature cheeses. The recommended serving temperature is around 16–18 °C, to allow the aromatic layers and harmonious structure of the wine to fully open up.
