Oxer Bastegieta, Marko Loretxoa, D.O.P. Bizkaiko Txakolina, white wine, 0.75l

A white wine coming from the Bizkaiko Txakolina wine region, made from the Hondarrabi Zuri Zerratia, Hondarrabi Zuri and Izkiriota Txikia varieties, from vineyards in the village of Kortezubi, a small town in the Basque Country famous for its prehistoric caves and listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The soil here is clay-limestone. The individual grapes from the oldest vineyards are hand-picked, and after processing, fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks using indigenous yeasts. The wine ages using the velo de flor method in sherry casks for two months, which gives it complexity and an entirely new dimension. Marko Loretxoa is a wine full of citrus and mineral notes, surprising on the palate with its freshness, intensity and balanced acidity. This wine has excellent ageing potential. We recommend enjoying this unique wine chilled to 6-8°C, with Iberian charcuterie, meats and fattier fish. Loretxoa means small flower and refers to a song by Benito Lertxundi, a celebrated Basque singer-songwriter. The quote on the label is by the Swiss poet Hermann Hesse: "The sun speaks to us through light. Flowers speak through scent and colour. The air communicates through clouds, snow and rain."
