Oller del Más, Bernat Oller Blanc de Picapolls, D.O. Pla de Bages, white wine, 0.75l

An excellent white wine from the Pla de Bages region, made by blending the Picapoll Negre and Blanc varieties. The grapes come from vineyards more than 20 years old with organic certification - no chemical products are used, only organic fertilisers.  After hand harvesting, the grapes are macerated at a low temperature and then pressed. While Picapoll Negre is fermented in oval concrete vats and ages there for 4 months, Picapoll Blanc is fermented in stainless steel tanks for 21 days at a controlled temperature of 16°C and ages on the lees for 5 months. The wine Bernat Oller Blanc de Picapolls is characterised by a straw colour with golden tinges and an aroma of white and exotic fruit, especially pears, lychee and apple. Delicate hints of grass can also be detected. The Oller del Mas winery is located on the site of a restored medieval castle from the 10th century.
