Red wine O Estranxeiro Mencía, from the Ribeira Sacra region, is made from the Mencía variety. The vines are planted on terraces on the steep slopes and canyons of the Sil and Miño rivers. Access here is often very difficult, so the entire harvest is done by hand. The area is typically characterised by slate subsoil, sand and clay.
The wine is young yet full-bodied, with an aroma of forest fruits, violet and eucalyptus. It has very good acidity, which extends the finish. O Estranxeiro Mencía ages for 7 months in large French oak barrels. Nothing is added to the wine except SO2.
