Empeltre is originally an Aragonese variety, characterised above all by its intensely black colour, which comes from a late harvest. The olives are picked only once fully ripe, which guarantees a very soft texture. Thanks to their firm skin, each fruit keeps its shape and stays on the tree right up until full ripeness. Aceitunas Losada is a Spanish family company that has been growing and selling olives since 1961. Its olive groves cover an area of 12,500 square kilometres in the beautiful region of Carmona near Seville. Until 2009, its entire production was intended solely for the Spanish market, but in recent years it has begun exporting all over the world. Because they grow the olives themselves, they know the product and the entire production process inside out and understand exactly what it needs.
