Pago de los Capellanes is run by Paco Rodero and his wife Conchita Villa. The winery was built in 1980 in Pedrosa de Duero near Burgos, in the heart of the Ribera del Duero region. With over 100 hectares of its own vineyards and state-of-the-art equipment, it has become one of the best wineries in one of Spain's most internationally prestigious wine regions.

Pago de los Capellanes Doroteo is produced from Tempranillo grapes selected from very old vineyards located at an altitude of more than 800 metres. These vines are more than 90 years old and are planted on poor clay soils full of gravel. It is grown in the traditional way and harvested by hand, selecting the best grapes on the ground.

At the winery, the Pago de los Capellanes Doroteo grapes are crushed and, after maceration and fermentation at a controlled temperature, the wine undergoes a long maturation period of 36 months in 225 litre French oak barrels, followed by 24 months in bottle before being released for sale.

The wine has a beautiful intense ruby colour with very pure garnet notes. You will be overwhelmed by the aromas of sweet spices and compote black fruits. Balsamic notes appear as you move the glass.

The palate is very round and sensual. Full in the mouth, but with no edge. Silky but with freshness.
