Eulogio Pomares, Pedraneira, D.O. Rias Baixas, white wine, 0,75l This is a fantastic Albarino that tastes of sea water falling on its vineyards, interwoven with crisp orchard fruit, peaches and white pepper. Great with seafood, tapas and other Spanish dishes.

An exciting new addition to Eulogio's famous Albarino Rias Baixas range, 'Pedraneira' comes from a small plot of land closest to the coast, named after the small cove in front of the vineyard.

The roots of the vineyard are so long and old that they now reach right into the sea. Whether this adds even more salinity to the overall wine can only be debated. But one thing is for sure, this is a fantastic Albarino that tastes of sea water hitting its vineyards, laced with crisp orchard fruit, peaches and white pepper.

The harvest is done by hand and the grapes are selected on the property. The grapes are de-stemmed and subjected to a long and smooth pressing, yielding a low yield of must which, after a gentle settling, is spontaneously fermented in 2 500 litres of French oak foudre and the wine remains on the lees until spring without batonage. The wine undergoes complete spontaneous malolactic fermentation. After bottling, the Pedraneira remains in escrow for 3 months looking for perfect integration.

At the end of this journey lies an expressive, pleasantly bright and incredibly mineral wine that pairs well with seafood, tapas and other Spanish dishes.
