The egendary winery Vega Sicilia has its roots as early as the 19th century. The current project was founded by the Alvarez family in 1982. Nyni owned around 140 hectares of vineyards around the Duero River, on which Tempranillo varieties are grown depending on soil composition, age of vineyards and climatic conditions, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. All vineyards are more than 10 years old, and some, such as Ontanon vineyards, boast reva planted in 1910 immediately after phyloxera.
