Dominio de Atauta, San Juan, D.O. Ribera del Duero, red wine, 0,75l 100% Tempranillo. Parker 94+. Excellent cherry colored wine. A deep and intense scent, almost perfumed. Its fresh profile stands out, where ripe red fruit is accompanied by lemon thyme and rosemary. Extremely elegant on the palate, with very soft and silky tannins, delicious with a very long red fruit finish.

Dominio de Atauta is a winery located in the Soriano Valley, an area of great ethnographic value and a long winemaking tradition. From an altitude of more than 1000 meters, the aim of the winery is to show all the potential of the pre-phylloxera vine for tinto fino in a valley with more than five hundred years of winemaking tradition and with extremely austere conditions — high altitude, lack of rain and great thermal oscillation.

It is a valley that, despite its small area, has a great diversity of soils, both in composition and depth, with one common element: calcareous rock. The intense minerality, the slow ripening caused by the altitude and the strong winds that keep the grapes in perfect hygienic condition make the valley an ideal place for growing grapes of the best quality. The vines coexist in harmony with the beautiful natural environment of oaks, aromatic herbs and animals such as hares, roe deer, wild boars and eagles.

The predominant variety on the more than 500 micro plots that the winery owns throughout the valley is, of course, red fino. Work in the vineyard is always based on organic and biodynamic principles, seeking maximum respect for the environment, therefore it is always done manually. The only fertilizer used is compost of animal and plant origin. Productions are very low, a maximum of 2500 kg/ha, which means that each vine plant produces slightly less grapes than required to produce a 0.75L bottle.
